(TAX UPDATE) RM300 Per Month Per Intern : LiKES Internship Placement Matching Grant

The Internship Placement Matching Grant for SMEs and Start-ups (LiKES) is an initiative by TalentCorp to support companies in providing internship opportunities while receiving financial reimbursement support.

This guide provides a simple explanation for employers and interns to understand the process, eligibility criteria, useful links, and the required documents for submission.

Employer Criteria:

• Must be a Small or Medium Enterprise (SME) or Start-up operating in Malaysia.

• Must be legally registered with the relevant authority (e.g., SSM).

• Must be able to provide certified company registration documents when requested.

• Must pay internship allowance according to TalentCorp requirements.

• Provide internship placement for a minimum of 10 weeks.

• Provide a structured internship programme as verified by TalenCorp.

• Eligible employers can claim reimbursements at the specified rate for up to ten (10) interns per organisation.

Intern Criteria:

• Malaysian Citizen.

• Full-time student (studying in Malaysia or abroad).

• Must receive internship placement from a LiKES-approved company.

• Must register on the MyNext Talent portal.

• Must complete the compulsory psychometric assessment before internship commencement.

Claim Eligibility:

• Reimbursement claims must be submitted within three (3) months after the internship ends (per assessment year).

• Late submissions may not be accepted.

• Reimbursement of up to RM300.00 per month for a maximum period of twelve (12) months. (Reimbursement is capped at RM3,6000.00 per intern per year if the monthly allowance is RM600.00 or higher). For interns pursuing Malaysian Advanced Skills Diploma (DLKM), Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or Professional Certificate

• Reimbursement of up toRM250.00 per month for a maximum period of twelve (12) months. (Reimbursement is capped at RM3,000.00 per intern per year ifthe monthly allowance is RM500.00). For interns pursuing Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 1 to Level 3, Diploma, Malaysian Skills Diploma (DKM).

PROCESS OVERVIEW

Step 1 ► Apply Online

Employers must complete the LiKES application form using the official Google Form link provided above.

Step 2 ► Company Verification

TalentCorp may request certified documents to verify the employer’s incorporation or registration with the relevant authorities.

Step 3 ► Intern Registration

After receiving internship placement approval, interns must:

• Register on MyNext Talent portal.

• Complete the psychometric assessment.

Step 4 ► Claim Reimbursement

Employers must submit reimbursement claims within three (3) months from the date of internship completion.

DOCUMENTS TO PREPARE

Employer Documents:

• Company registration documents (SSM or equivalent).

• Certified copies of incorporation or business registration.

• Any additional verification documents requested by TalentCorp.

Intern Documents:

• MyNext Talent registration confirmation.

• Psychometric assessment completion record.

• Internship offer confirmation (if required).

Claim Submission Documents:

• Proof of internship completion.

• Allowance payment records.

• Any supporting documents required by TalentCorp during claim submission.
