(TAX UPDATE) Two New MyTax Features Every SME Boss Should Know: e-Derma and e-Kompaun

Digitalisation is changing the way we handle tax compliance in Malaysia. The Inland Revenue Board (HASiL) has just introduced two important features on the MyTax platform: e-Derma and e-Kompaun. Both are designed to make life easier for businesses and organisations like yours.

e-Derma: Apply for Tax Exemption Online

From now on, domestic institutions and organisations can submit tax exemption applications directly through the new e-Derma system on MyTax. This feature is relevant if your company contributes donations to approved institutions or if you manage a body seeking tax-exempt status under Section 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Log in to the MyTax portal.

  2. Select Login > Company Director/Organisation Administrator.

  3. Go to Institution or Organisation > ezHasil Services > e-Derma.

  4. Submit your exemption application online.

Why does this matter? The old process required physical paperwork and long waiting times. With e-Derma, the submission and approval process is faster, more transparent, and entirely paperless. For SMEs, this means you can plan your tax benefits more efficiently when making donations or supporting charitable causes.

e-Kompaun: Settle Compounds Without Queuing

The second new feature, e-Kompaun, is a game-changer for employers and corporate taxpayers. Launched officially on 30 June 2025, it allows you to handle tax-related compounds entirely online.

What does e-Kompaun cover?

  • Late payment of Monthly Tax Deductions (PCB) or CP38 (Rule 10, Income Tax (Deduction from Remuneration) Rules 1994).

  • Failure or delay in submitting CP204 (company tax estimate) under subsection 107C(2) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

How did it work before?

Previously, if your company received a compound notice, you would get a letter by post. To resolve it, you had to physically visit the HASiL office, collect the compound bill, and only then make payment.

What’s new?

Now the entire process is digital:

  • View notices online through MyTax.

  • Submit compound applications on the spot.

  • Generate and pay the bill directly online.

No more counter visits, no more waiting. Everything is fast, simple, and paperless.

Why These Changes Matter to SMEs

Both e-Derma and e-Kompaun are part of Malaysia’s push for digital transformation. For SME owners, this means less time wasted on compliance and more focus on running your business.

  • For e-Derma: Faster access to tax exemptions helps improve cash flow planning.

  • For e-Kompaun: Resolving compliance issues becomes more efficient, reducing disruption to your operations.

At KTP, we encourage SME bosses to explore these features immediately. They are not just about convenience—they represent a shift towards a more transparent and efficient tax system in Malaysia.
