After I was given an opportunity to initiate a sharing about budget 2022, I realized the positive impact of good presentation skills.

As this was my very first initiated sharing session, I was nervous yet excited. However, it was a mistake as I did not overcome my nervousness throughout the whole session. I was appearing nervous and seemed to be in a hurry, I had stuttered in my words during my presentation.

One of the key learnings is that practice makes perfect. I then realise that I was underprepared at the end of the session. The lack of preparation caused me to be unable to deliver my speech in an impactful way.

After my presentation, I was told that I appeared nervous during my sharing. As a result, audiences are unable to concentrate on the content of my sharing. It is important to be prepared and ensure that my hard work on content preparation is not wasted by unnecessary speech interjections.

Although it is disheartening , I will not be ashamed to learn from this experience. Mr. Koh Teck Peng did emphasize the importance for us to learn from mistakes and failures. We should not be afraid of making mistakes but to learn from the mistakes we have made.

Throughout the sharing session, I realised the importance of building my own confidence. I should always be confident and keep strong eye contact when delivering my ideas.

Overall, I appreciate that I was given an opportunity by the company to give this presentation. This is an excellent learning experience for me and I believe everyone can deliver a good speech through continuous practice.
