My story on KTP orientation

01Shaaila, a newcomer with 3 years of working experience, reflects on our KTP's orientation.

02Who am I?

My, Shaaila, first day at work with KTP as audit and tax associate. Today is my 2nd day working in KTP as audit and tax associate. Once I entered the office, everything is new to me.

The environment is quite new to me as everything is very systematic and organised from starting of the day until the day we sign off from work.

Based on my previous working experience, everything was done manually and partially and sometimes we don't even know the purpose of doing the task and the way to do it.

03SOP

In KTP, every assignment is provided with the right SOP as guidance for me to learn more on the system and to get to know about the company in more detail. SOP in video form is really helpful and it helps me to visualise the things that I need to be focused on rather than just reading it in pdf files.

I admit it was a little challenging to me as looking at all the Sop's but I believe it enables me to learn more on the techniques and explore the company as well.

04Storybooks

I was also given 3 storybooks which surprised me as this company does not only encourage us to focus on working life but to enhance my reading skills and broaden my thinking skills. I was amazed that KTP has it own library where staff spent time more reading fiction and non-fiction books.

Besides, writing daily dairy enables me to reflect on what I have done and prioritise on things that need to be improvised which is a good thing to me.

05Friendly colleagues

I am thankful to have a friendly colleague around me as welcomed me well and guided me all the way during my orientation period. I felt the positive vibes among the colleagues here which makes me feel comfortable and easier to communicate to each other.

06First encounter with Mr. Koh Teck Peng

When I had my conversation with Mr Koh Teck Peng, the Group Principal of KTP, what I have learned is we should not do things blindly.

We should know every detail and the purpose of doing a task. After listening to his wise objectives, it actually motivates me to strive for my goals, especially in my career as well as to establish myself to be a very knowledgeable person as well.

Besides, Mr Koh Teck Peng encourages me to take a challenge as I have been in a different environment throughout my working experience and polish my understanding as well.

His words are motivated me, I realised every single thing we do should have a purpose.

Final words

I believe I have made the right decisions in joining this company as it enables me to understand the purpose of doing my job and continue to apply it in my upcoming careers.
