这个不是我的工作。He He

上个星期,一个Boss打电话给我。

气到不行。

他对我大声讲:“Bro,你的人告诉我,这个不是我的工作!”

然后他问:“许先生,这种事怎么可以在你的firm发生?”

我 apologized left, rigth & centre。

因为在KTP,这句话几乎是一个mampus word。

平时我在office听到”这个不是我的工作”,

我的血压已经naik一格。

现在我的staff在客户面前讲出来。

Confirm整瓶Panadol也不够吃。

在KTP,这种讲法违反了我们所有的原则。

我们的文化就是一个字。Accountability。

我常常告诉我的团队。

你一开口讲”这个不是我的工作”,

你做leader已经failed了。

不管你的title是什么。Manager、supervisor、senior,都一样。

过后,我召集management team,

如常分享我最喜欢的analogy。

你想想看,你把车送去service centre。

Engine有怪声。

你问foreman:“Bro,我的车怎样了?”

他讲:“不是我的工作。你去问那边的mechanic。”

你走去mechanic那边。他讲:“不是我的工作。我只是follow senior mechanic写的东西。”

你走去senior mechanic那边。他讲:“等下啊,我先check with manager。”

怎样?

Geram吗?

Steam肯定从你的耳朵冒出来,对吗?

这就是你的staff把问题踢来踢去的时候,你的客户的感受。

那为什么大家这么爱讲”这个不是我的工作”?

我做了30年,看到三个真正的原因:

怕被blame。推出去比own起来安全。

Silo心态。“我的department,你的department”。

上面做坏榜样。连manager也在push,那我为什么不可以?

但作为leader,我必须把这个文化fix掉。

因为一旦”不是我的工作”变成normal,这家公司就慢慢变得很危险。

没有人own那个错误。

没有人own那个客户。

没有人own那个outcome。

每个人只own自己的桌子。

讲真的,Boss。

当SME老板问我,为什么其他firm收得更便宜,他们还要给KTP的fees,我直接告诉他们:

“你不是给audit report或者tax report的钱。你是给一个会own你的问题的team。”

这就是分别。

这就是我们built起来的文化。

因为到最后,accountability不是墙上一张poster罢了。
